About Role:
VFS is seeking a well-organized self-starter for a full or part time position as a JR Data Associate. The JR Data Associate supports the Data team with executing the client's campaign strategy. We seek service-oriented individuals with technical and political skills for this work. This position is ideal for someone with a creative, analytical mindset and a deep understanding of the sorts of data used by and generated by political field campaigns. This position may be assigned work focused on different aspects of campaign work.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

​Supporting the data and analytics team in implementing VFS’s client goals

Participating in VFS’s creation of field campaign and organizing strategy and team benchmarks for success

Helping troubleshoot issues on VAN and other campaign data tools
-
Supporting with other data projects to help deliver on the data and analytics team’s goals to an exceptionally high standard
-
Collect, process (Quality Checking, scanning, uploading to BLOCKS, and tracking), and handle Voter Registration Forms and cover letters as assigned

Create and maintain reports from BLOCKS and Google Sheets and cross referencing BLOCKS and tracker information is accurate

Create reports for all aspects of the campaign and other program data as needed

Provide technical support and training to staff on tools to support canvassing, volunteer mobilization and organizing activities

Create lists and Virtual Phone Banks based on a set universe

Create and distribute turf for canvass shifts

Communicate with program managers for needs and reporting

Maintain and monitor tools and data cleanliness

Use Google Sheets to create and present reports

Provide support on tools to staff and volunteers

Work and assist Data Specialists and Deputy Data Director

Deliveries to County Recorder Offices

Work interdependently with other team members

Flag any data inconsistencies to managers

Keep track of turf and create strategy to ensure voter outreach is consistent, efficient and complete

General data entry

Qualifications:
-
​VAN and/or other database skills
-
Experience working with underrepresented and/or historically marginalized communities, preferably in political or organizing settings
-
Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of information with impeccable attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
-
Strong sense of ownership and resilience concerning planning, finding alternative paths when needed, and bouncing back from setbacks and rejections

Understanding standard direct voter contact programs and experience using data to inform plans and programs

Experience in using data visualization tools to explain a campaign’s past performance, its trajectory, and the context in which it is operating

Ability to manage several tasks / projects concurrently and prioritizing work effectively by making and meeting team goals

Ability to communicate what is necessary to achieve tasks to other staff and when and how these requirements are either being met successfully or not

Must be comfortable working with diverse stakeholders in one-on-one meetings and group settings
-
Must be a self-starter willing to work long, irregular campaign-style hours and to travel as needed, especially during campaign season

Ability to learn quickly and adapt to quick changing environments

High School Diploma or equivalent

Access to technological equipment i.e laptop, mobile phone
-
At least 1 year experience using Excel/Google Sheets

Must be able to travel for work (reliable transportation required)
